RICHARD AMEND
Born in Brooklyn, raised in art. Attended High School of Art & Design in Manhattan, graduated with BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art. Immigrated to the Golden State for the opportunity to continue education at the recently invented beacon, California Institute of the Arts, receiving there a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1973. Neatly truncated into three distinct life chapters-New York City, Los Angeles, and now, Ojai.
Twenty solo exhibitions and just as many group shows over a forty-plus year career. Works in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution, Carnegie Museum of Art (Oxnard, CA), Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art
at Utah State University, Museum of Modern Art Film Department, and most recently, Museum of Ventura County.
Parallel and simultaneous career paths from time to time and sometimes all the time in production design, graphic design, exhibition design and public service.
